COVID has presented employers with a slew of new issues, but it has also resurrected the old issue of 1099 contractors. Perhaps the employee you laid off has asked to return as a 1099 contractor so they can continue on employment? Or with the reduction in hours, your company has explored transitioning workers to a contract basis? In this presentation we'll review the rules and requirements regarding classification of W-2 employees and 1099 contractors. We will talk about new guidance from the DOL and the impact COVID has had on independent contractor classification.
