Kleinfelder has an opportunity for an HR Business Partner to join our Central Division.

  • The position may be based in any Central Division office

  • This role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Division Leadership to promote a culture of professionalism and excellence

  • Understand business goals and design/implement new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve business objectives, productivity, and HR effectiveness

  • Interface and engage with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Maintain the highest level of integrity, professionalism, fairness, and confidentiality

  • Partner with corporate recruiters and other Divisional HR Business Partners to ensure regulatory compliance and maximize recruitment efficiencies

  • Monitor employee engagement and maintain awareness of employee sentiment across the division

  • Assist managers and employees in developing clear career paths and growth opportunities

  • Support transparent and frequent conversations around goals and performance

  • Provide guidance and tools to ensure employees are compensated at market rates

  • Support training programs that develop employees in people management, business, and project management

  • Manage employee relations issues including investigations involving working conditions, disciplinary actions, and employee complaints

  • Participate in EEOC responses and investigations when necessary

  • Provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution

  • Prepare investigative reports related to employee relations matters

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Up to 20% travel may be required

  • Minimum 8+ years of progressively responsible HR experience in a multi-state environment

  • Experience with a broad range of HR functions including compensation, benefits, employee health and welfare programs, and training/development

  • At least 3 years of employee relations experience, including:

    • Responding to EEOC complaints

    • Implementing HR policies

    • Advising managers and employees on workplace issues

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations including:

  • Human Resources compliance

  • Compensation regulations

  • COBRA

  • Section 125

  • ERISA

  • FMLA

  • Disability programs

  • Workers’ Compensation

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required
